Connecting Investment Analytics to Corporate Performance

Organizations have invested heavily in infrastructure, people, processes, products and technology. Revenue, headcount, salary budgets, technology expenditures all contribute to an organization's financial performance at any given moment.

But organizations don't stay still. They constantly evolve to meet new objectives. At Barometrix, we see every enterprise as a portfolio of investment initiatives designed to underwrite change. These include infrastructure, applications, projects and products. Our objective is to provide software to manage those investments and their impact on the organization. At Barometrix, we empower business managers and partners to collaborate and make informed decisions based on quantifiable and accurate insight.

The Barometrix software architecture allows users to analyze organizational assets and understand their contribution to overall corporate performance. Only Barometrix links assets in a connected way ensuring a total picture that enables managers to perform what-if analysis and see the true impact on financial performance, tying back proposed action to revenue, headcount, budgets and dozens of key performance indicators.

The above diagram underscores this approach. Starting with the business process hierarchy where applications are mapped to business processes. These applications support business units (or departments) in the execution of key processes. The product pool shows assets in the form of projects, products and applications. These components are interconnected and flow into the core Barometrix analytics engine, a set of mathematical algorithms and logic that “organically” link key indicators and provide a singular and connected view of corporate performance.

Collaboration is managed across the organization by technology that allows users and managers to share analyses and perform further what-if scenario testing. Collaboration can occur at three levels with or without a centralized database:

    • Peer-to-peer: Using email, users can share portfolios via simple email attachments and Barometrix "Passport" technology that provides asset identification.

    • Shared Server: Using Internet/Intranet communications and file server technologies, shared server provides access control and management facilities, enabling centralization without the need for a database.

    • Shared Database: Using database technology, users can more easily store and organize substantially greater historical portfolio information.

Designed to scale, the Barometrix architecture provides an aggregated view of portfolios by allowing managers to roll up portfolios into views that are more manageable and easier to communicate. Analyses can then be rolled down and actions can be taken to reflect changes in the portfolio over time.
